Base ratios for braises and stews: 1h oven (350°F) ≈ 4h slow cooker HIGH ≈ 8h slow cooker LOW ≈ 20 min Instant Pot high pressure. Tougher cuts (chuck, brisket, pork shoulder) shift toward the longer end; soups and beans toward the shorter end.

For pressure cooking, add 10–15 min for natural pressure release. Reduce liquid by ~25% when converting a stovetop or oven recipe to slow cooker (less evaporation).

গণিতটি কীভাবে কাজ করে

Every conversion pivots on one reference: an hour in a 350°F oven. Each dish preset stores what that hour is worth elsewhere, so a general braise is 8 hours on slow-cooker LOW, 4 hours on HIGH and 0.33 of an hour, about 20 minutes, at high pressure. Whatever you enter is first divided by its own ratio to get oven-hours, and all four rows are then rebuilt from that figure. Anything under an hour is shown in minutes.

The dish preset changes the answer far more than the exact time you type. A stew or beans uses 8 and 4 with a 0.5 pressure ratio; a roast or pulled pork stretches to 10 and 5; soup shortens to 6 and 3 with 0.25; a whole chicken uses 6 and 3; and rice collapses to 2, 1.5 and 0.083, roughly five pressure-cooker minutes per oven hour. The From selector then tells the tool which appliance your original time refers to.

This is ratio arithmetic and nothing more. There is no temperature field, no weight or quantity, and no liquid volume, so a small casserole and a whole shoulder convert identically. The pressure figures cover cook time only: they exclude the minutes spent coming up to pressure and the 10–15 minute natural release the tool's own notes tell you to add. Converting a short pressure time back out also magnifies error, since five minutes of rice becomes a full oven hour.

সাধারণ জিজ্ঞাসা

What is 2 hours in the oven equivalent to in a slow cooker?

For a general braise, 16 hours on LOW, 8 hours on HIGH, or roughly 40 minutes at high pressure. Sixteen hours is longer than most slow cookers run unattended, which is a good sign you should pick a shorter dish preset.

Is 8 hours on LOW the same as 4 hours on HIGH?

For almost every preset here, yes — LOW is set at exactly twice HIGH for braises, stews, roasts, beans, soup, chicken and pulled pork. Rice is the exception, at 2 versus 1.5, and the note warns that slow cookers cook rice unevenly anyway.

How many Instant Pot minutes equal a day of pulled pork?

The pulled pork preset rates high pressure at 1.25, the slowest of any dish. Ten hours on LOW is one oven hour, which becomes 75 minutes under pressure, plus the come-up time and a natural release before you shred at 95°C internal.

Should I reduce the liquid when converting to a slow cooker?

Yes, by around a quarter. A sealed slow cooker loses almost nothing to evaporation, so a stovetop or oven quantity of stock that would have reduced over hours will instead leave you with a thin, watery sauce at the end.

Does the converter account for pressure release time?

No. The Instant Pot row is cook time at pressure only. Add roughly 10 to 15 minutes for a natural release, plus the time the pot takes to reach pressure, which grows with the volume of cold liquid in the pot.
