FX rates approximate, based on late-2025 averages. Use a live rate at invoice time for production quotes.

Comment fonctionne le calcul

Step 1: deduct processor fee from the gross invoice. Step 2: convert remaining at mid-market rate × (1 − FX spread). Step 3: apply local income tax to the converted amount.

Result = invoice × (1 − processor%) × FX_rate × (1 − spread%) × (1 − tax%).

Comment fonctionne le calcul

This models the whole path from a client's invoice to money in your account, in three steps. The processor fee comes off the gross first, in the source currency. What remains is converted at a mid-market rate multiplied by (1 − FX spread). Local income tax is then applied to the converted amount. The full chain is invoice × (1 − processor%) × rate × (1 − spread%) × (1 − tax%), and each step gets its own row in the breakdown table.

The two fee fields matter more than most people expect, and the preset buttons set them in pairs: Wise/Stripe uses a 2% spread with a 1.5% processor fee, PayPal 3.5% and 4.5%, and Bank wire 4% and 0.5%. The defaults are a 5,000 USD invoice paid into NZD with a 2% spread, 3% processor fee and 30% tax. Set the source and local currency dropdowns first; eight currencies are offered, including JPY and INR.

The exchange rates are hard-coded approximations of late-2025 averages, as the page states beneath the table, not live quotes, so check a real rate before committing to a quote. Tax is a single flat percentage on the converted amount, with no brackets, thresholds, deductible expenses or foreign tax credits. The model also assumes the processor fee is purely a percentage, so fixed per-transaction charges and separate card-network conversion fees are not counted.

FAQ

Which is cheaper for international invoices, PayPal or a bank wire?

With the built-in presets, Bank wire at a 4% spread and 0.5% processing beats PayPal at 3.5% and 4.5% on a 5,000 invoice, because PayPal's much larger processing fee is charged on the full gross. Wise/Stripe, at 2% and 1.5%, comes out cheaper than either.

Does the FX spread apply before or after the payment processor fee?

After. The processor fee is deducted from the gross invoice while it is still in the source currency, and only the remainder gets converted. That ordering matters: a 3% processor fee on a 5,000 invoice removes 150 before any exchange rate touches the rest.

Where do the exchange rates in this converter come from?

They are fixed values stored in the page, approximate late-2025 averages held as one USD-equivalent figure per currency, from which the cross rate is derived. Nothing is fetched live, so verify against your bank or a transfer service before quoting a real client.

How do I work out what to invoice so I keep a target amount?

Enter a trial invoice figure and adjust it until the take-home line matches your target. Because every step in the chain is a multiplication, take-home scales linearly with the invoice, so you can also scale your first result up or down proportionally.

Is Japanese yen handled differently from the other currencies?

Yen amounts display with no decimal places, unlike the other seven currencies which show two. The stored rate is 0.0067 US dollars per yen. Indian rupees, at 0.0118, still display two decimals despite being a similarly low-denomination unit.
