The calculator divides your word count by a words-per-page constant: pages = words ÷ wpp. The headline figure always uses 250 words per page, the double-spaced 12pt standard, and prints one decimal place. Switch Mode to Pages → Words and it multiplies instead, turning a page target back into a word target. The table underneath runs the same arithmetic across eight fixed formats at once, so you see every answer from a single count.

Only two fields exist, Count (default 50,000) and Mode, so the row you read matters more than anything you type. Submitting to agents or editors, use Manuscript (Courier 12pt double) at 250 wpp. Estimating a printed book, use Trade paperback at 275 or Mass market paperback at 350. Single-spaced Word documents and blog copy both run 500 wpp, roughly half the page count. The preset buttons load typical lengths, Blog post 800 through Epic 150,000, and always reset Mode to Words → Pages.

Treat every number as an estimate. The words-per-page values are fixed constants, with no field for font, point size, margins or trim size, so MLA, APA and Manuscript all return an identical figure at 250 wpp. Real typesetting varies with dialogue, chapter breaks, part titles and blank pages, which usually add pages to a novel rather than remove them. Pages are rounded to one decimal, and nothing here counts front matter, footnotes or an index.

How many pages is 50,000 words?

At the double-spaced 250-words-per-page standard the tool defaults to, 50,000 words is 200.0 pages. The same count reads 100.0 pages single-spaced at 500 wpp, 181.8 pages as a trade paperback at 275 wpp, and 142.9 pages mass market at 350 wpp.

What counts as a standard manuscript page?

The Manuscript row uses 250 words per page, meaning 12pt Courier, double-spaced, with one-inch margins. That is the figure agents and editors quote lengths in, so use it in a submission letter even if your word processor paginates differently on screen.

Why do the MLA and APA rows show the same number?

Both are stored at 250 words per page, the same constant as double-spaced manuscript, because all three describe 12pt serif type at double spacing. The tool has no separate handling for headers, works-cited pages or reference lists, so their page counts come out identical.

How many words do I need for a 10-page essay?

Switch Mode to Pages → Words and enter 10. At the 250 wpp double-spaced standard that is 2,500 words, exactly what the College essay preset loads. Single-spaced at 500 wpp, the same ten pages would need 5,000 words instead.

Is 500 words per page realistic for a blog post?

That is the Blog / web row's constant, based on 16px type at 1.5 line height. It is a rough screen-height equivalent rather than a real page, since web pages scroll. Use it to compare article lengths, not to predict a printout.
