Direction is the next lever — pick "With nap / one-way print" for velvet, corduroy, or any print that reads upside down, and accept the 15 percent penalty. The comparison table under the result prints all three widths side by side, with and without nap, so you can price the trade-off.
Picking Quilt switches to a different model entirely: top yardage is quilt width times length divided by fabric width times 36, plus 10 percent waste; backing is sized with an 8-inch overhang on every side and 5 percent waste; binding is figured as 2.5-inch strips. In quilt mode the Size and Direction selects are ignored, and the Block size field is collected but never used. Nothing here models your real cutting layout, selvedge loss or shrinkage.
